The AuthentisignTM service is a secure browser based on-line document signing service which enables multiple parties to participate and sign documents on-line.
All of the documents signed on-line are protected using the trusted United States Postal Service Electronic Postmark. (USPS EPM).
The USPS EPM service is web-based security service that dates and timestamps electronic documents and files.
Provides tamper detection, and enabling on-line verification of content authenticity. The AuthentisignTM service is available for use at www.authentisign.com.
Signing a Document
The AuthentisignTM Services allows users to distribute virtually any document through the internet to multiple signing parties.
Remote documents are digitally signed and sealed with the trusted USPS EPM.
AuthentisignTM users have the ability to control and monitor every step of the signing process.
A dash board of all activities pertaining to a signing process can be viewed at any time.
Remote email notifications can be sent alerting the owner of the signing process of any remote document access signing activity.
By applying a USPS EPM, the content of the document is locked, protecting it from tampering, altering and potential fraud.
When a user opens a PDF document that has been postmarked, the authenticity of the USP EPM can be independently verified outside of the AuthentisignTM service.
Details regarding document history are available through ‘Key’ annotations located next to each signature block within the document.
Complete document history is available in the bookmark portion of the document.
A transaction record about a postmarked AuthentisignTM document is maintained in the USPS EPM repository for seven years, providing third party evidence to support
non-repudiation of content.
ESIGN & Electronic Signatures
The USPS EPM service supports applications so that they can comply with the ESIGN legislation (June 2000).
This law made electronic signatures a legally viable option for conduction business, and postmarking of documents extremely easy and legally compliant.
The ESIGN law, which is technology neutral, provides general, performance based guidelines that eliminates legal barriers to using electronic technology to form and sign contracts, collect and store documents, and sending and receiving all types of documents.
ESIGN also requires that electronically signed records are retained in a manner that:
1) Accurately reflects the information set forth in the contract of other record
2) Remains accessible to all persons who are legally entitled to access in a form that is capable of being accurately reproduced for later reference, whether by transmission, printing or otherwise
AuthentisignTM and the USPS EPM
The AuthentisignTM service allows users to take advantage of the USPS EPM service digitally sign, electronically postmark, and verify PDF documents so that documents stay protected, auditable and secure.
The AuthentisignTM and USPS EPM service are consistent with the ESIGN guidelines, allowing content to ESIGN guidelines, allowing content to be verified by users over the web, and maintains evidence of document authenticity for later reference for seven years.
